Lenoir County Home Educators

LCHE is a Christ Centered/Board Administered/Membership Directed Home School support group which serves Lenoir County, North Carolina, and surrounding counties.

WHO ARE WE

The membership of LCHE consists of a diverse group of families that represent varied levels of education, economics, family size, and cultural difference brought together through our faith and belief and belief in our right to educate our children at home.  LCHE offers families a way to stay connected with other families that share a common goal, having chosen an alternative to traditional education, through support, friendship, fellowship, and fun.

LCHE was started in 1998, by a half dozen families who realized there was a need for support and fellowship among other home school families.  Over the years the group has been blessed with consistent growth and membership is now around 60 families.  LCHE is an active group that, while still emphasizing support and fellowship, has worked to expand the opportunities available to membership.  Opportunities now afforded to membership include a members’ only informational loop, monthly field trips, KLASS, field day activities, park days, Mom's Night Out, group testing, science fair, and many other activities.  Our challenge as a group is to support, and promote, home education in a way that allows for growth not only in number, but in character, keeping our minds open to all the talents afforded us as a group so that we may create a wonderful educational support system for our families.

OUR PURPOSE

  1. To strengthen the reach and influence of the private BIBLICAL homeschooling movement in Lenoir County and beyond.

  2. The BIBLE states that parents are to teach their children at all times (Deuteronomy 6:7 - KJV - And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.)  Learning, therefore, should be a way of life in which learning is a priority.

  3.  To  help Christian families with information and help where they can research all aspects of homeschooling or considering homeschooling.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 KJV

The board and membership of LCHE hope to be a blessing to all those who seek to join LCHE and while we do not limit our membership to a specific group our approach to schooling is definitively Christ centered and Biblically based.
